Photos: Images of evacuation and destruction from Hurricane Irma

Hurricane Irma continued to barrel down the Caribbean on Wednesday, devastating Antigua, St. John’s and Barbuda. The massive storm is the strongest ever recorded in the Atlantic and continues its path of destruction through Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and areas to the west. It could make landfall in Florida.

As it swept through the Caribbean, observers recorded sustained winds of up to 185 mph. According to AP reports, as many as “37 million people could be affected by Hurricane Irma.” Officials in Antigua and Barbuda have already reported one death. The Prime Minister Gaston Browne said the storm left about 1,400 people homeless on the island of Barbuda.

Expect to see more devastation as Hurricane Irma roars westward toward the United States.
